Guess What, Sweetheart;

You can walk out of your house every morning, paste a smile on your face and act like the world isn't crashing down around you.  You can make everyone think you have it all together, without a care in the world, and nothing but great things happening in your amazing life.  You can post pictures of yourself and your kids, appearing to the world to be a strong independent woman who has never known heartbreak; who has never had to worry about having enough money in your bank account to both pay your bills and keep food on the table for your family.

But somewhere out there, will always be the one man who knows you better than anyone else.  The
one man who has seen you hit rock bottom.  The one man who was there to hold you when you broke down and cried, then kicked your ass into gear when you wanted to quit; to give up; to walk away from your family, your kids and your job.  Somewhere out there, will always be the man who was there for you unconditionally, for better or for worse.  The one man who could hold your hand, look into your eyes, past the facade you put up for everyone else, and see what was really going on behind the fake smile.

That man will always be there, but he is no longer there for you.  Because you couldn't take it.  You couldn't stand allowing yourself to be vulnerable.  You couldn't stand the thought of giving another man the power to walk away and hurt you.  So rather than risk him walking away, you shut the door on him; the only man who truly knew you; the only man who would never have left.

Well guess what, sweetheart; one of these days, your head and your heart will quit fighting each other.  And when that happens and the dust settles, you'll remember this.  You'll look back and remember that one man you pushed away, and do you know what's going to happen?  You're going to look into the mirror, reflecting on your miserable life, and suddenly you'll realize, you fucked up.
